Made-in-India Suzuki Access and Avenis to Enter UK

Suzuki is going to launch its two 125cc, made-in-India scooters in the UK in October. Ahead of the launch, the company has already begun the export of the Access 125 and Avenis 125. The scooters will be learner-legal and cost-efficient. It will be interesting to see if Suzuki will be able to replicate the success its scooters enjoy in India.

Currently, both models can be spotted on Suzuki’s UK website. As per the reports, these scooters will be exported to other major European markets, although Suzuki has not disclosed the specific markets yet. The Access 125 will be sold as Address 125 with a new name badging, while the Avenis 125 will continue with the same name. Both the scooters share the same 124cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine delivering 8.7 hp and 10 Nm torque. The engine comes with a CVT gearbox allowing twist-and-go operation. Other similarities include 12-inch wheels at the front and 10-inch ones at the rear, they also share basic suspension and braking hardware.

With the same heart, the design and appearance of  Access/Address and Avenis differ from each other. Access has less weight of 104 kg compared to 106 kg of Avenis.  The seat of Access is 773 mm while the Avenis has 780 mm. The fuel tank of Access and Avenis are 5.2 liter and 5 liters respectively and they also have External fuel filler caps as standard.

Other features include Suzuki’s Eco Performance (SEP) indicator on fully-digital instrumentation indicating the optimum balance between fuel efficiency and performance. Both scooters are expected to come equipped with Bluetooth connectivity just like India-spec versions. The Indian spec Access 125 is priced between Rs 78,300 and Rs 86,200,  whereas the Avenis is priced between Rs 87,500 and Rs 89,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the price for the UK market is not yet revealed, the previous Address 110 was available at £2,399. The new prices are expected to be higher than this.
