Will your Android run Fortnite? Check the system requirements

For mobile gamers, Epic Games’ Fortnite has been drawing all the attention since the last couple of days. Until now, rumours have suggested that the PUBG-rivalling battle royale game will launch on Android alongside the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and could be exclusive to it for the first couple of days. Whether this information is true remains to be seen until Samsung’s Note 9 launch, a leaked page from Epic Games’ website now suggests which Android devices could support Fortnite after it breaks its Note 9 exclusivity.

Fortnite’s system requirements page has been obtained by XDA Developers, detailing all the specifications that a smartphone would need to possess in order to support the game. A leaked APK file also suggests the exclusivity of Fortnite to Samsung’s Note 9, after which only a selected number of devices will be able to run it.

The minimum requirements for Fortnite on Android are listed as below: Android 5.0 Lollipop and above

ARM64 with NEON and Floating Point Render Targets (FPRT) support

At least 3GB of RAM or higher

OpenGL 3.1 or newer Moving over, the configuration list clearly mentions that devices with hardware from the following manufacturers won’t be supporting Fortnite for now. Devices with Intel Atom chips

Devices with PowerVR GPU

Devices with NVIDIA chips

Devices from HTC, Motorola, Lenovo, Sony and Essential That leaves us with the hardware that will support Forntnite initially after its global launch on Android, all of which is listed below: Devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, Snapdragon 835, Snapdragon 821 and Snapdragon 820. The devices with SD845 and SD835 can host Fortnite on medium graphics by default, with Vulkan pushing it to the max. The SD821 and SD820 will only be running it in low graphics.

Devices with Exynos 9810 in Galaxy S9 (Medium graphics), Exynos 8895 in Galaxy S8 and Note 8 (Low graphics) and Exynos 8890 in Galaxy S7 (Lowest graphics).

Devices with the HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset on medium graphics, which means the following Huawei/Honor devices will support it initially — Honor Note 10, Honor 10, Huawei P20, Huawei Mate 10, Honor View 10 and Honor Play. Are you disappointed with the list? It seems that mostly the flagship devices will be able to host Fortnite, leaving aside even the latest midrange platforms from Qualcomm and Huawei. Fret not as this is still leaked information from early stages and there could be a possibility that Epic Games will optimise it for more devices in the future.
