DETROIT (AP) — Authorities say three young men were shot to death in a White Castle on Detroit's west side. Officer Vanessa Burt says two men entered the restaurant at around 12:25 a.m. Sunday and shot the three victims, who were ages 25, 24 and 20. Investigators have no information on the assailants. The restaurant's windows had bullet holes and handguns were recovered at the scene. It wasn't immediately known if the victims were customers or workers at the restaurant. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Bruce Rauner has declared a "harvest emergency" to help crop-hauling Illinois farmers compete with those in neighboring states. The Republican's declaration allows haulers to exceed road-weight limits in taking crops to market. The free permits are available from the Illinois Department of Transportation. BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A search is underway for Bridgeport's new police chief, but the city won't reveal the members of the selection committee. The Connecticut Post reports that city officials are refusing to release the names of members of the committee that will recommend finalists to Mayor Joe Ganim. Rowena White, the mayor's spokesman, said the identities of the committee members will remain confidential "at this time" to protect the identities of the candidates. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma organization is proposing the state add a bilingual certification on diplomas given to high school graduates who speak more than one language. Thirty-two states include a Seal of Biliteracy on a student's diploma or transcript, confirming the graduate is proficient in English and at least one other language. TILFORD, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota National Guard says a firefighter killed while battling a house fire in Tilford was a longtime Guard soldier. Forty-three-year-old Staff Sgt. David Fischer of Sturgis was killed Friday when he was hit by a piece of propane tank that exploded. The homeowner, 82-year-old Raymond Bachmeier of Tilford, also died. LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Don McGuire, the last surviving member of The Hilltoppers, has died in his home state of Kentucky. He was 86. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home of Lexington says McGuire, a native of Hazard, died Friday following a short illness. The Hilltoppers rose to fame in the 1950s with pop hits including "P.S. LONGWOOD, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say that an Amtrak train in Florida has struck and killed a pedestrian. The Florida Highway Patrol said the incident occurred on Sunday morning in Seminole County. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Authorities have charged a 21-year-old man with assaulting a public servant after a pursuit in Austin in which a state trooper shot the man. The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a release Sunday that 21-year-old Dustin Lee Dougherty of Leander was also charged with evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. DPS says the trooper, who was not named, pursued a stolen vehicle after 10 p.m. Saturday and was assaulted. The department's statement doesn't specify whether the trooper feared for his safety. SCHOOLCRAFT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say two people have died after the boat they were on struck a bridge in western Michigan. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office said the boat was crossing through a canal from Tub Lake to Barton Lake when it struck the Portage Road bridge Saturday evening in Schoolcraft Township. It says two of the three individuals on the boat were killed. It has not provided details about the third person's condition or any other details about the accident that occurred about 130 miles west of Detroit.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Police in Glendale police say they are searching for a suspect in a shooting that left a man wounded. They say the incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Glendale and 75th avenues. Police say a man suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital with injuries that appeared to not be life-threatening. The name and age of the man haven't been released. Police say the motive for the shooting isn't immediately clear.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say 26 people fell ill during a weekend wedding in Southern California. The Riverside County Fire Department says guests were sickened Saturday night in an unincorporated area near Moreno Valley, east of Los Angeles. Some had nausea and vomiting. TAYCHEEDAH, Wis. (AP) — A motorcyclist is dead and his passenger is in critical condition after their motorcycle crashed into a farm tractor in east-central Wisconsin. The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 151 in Taycheedah. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, the motorcycle was trying to pass the tractor and the tractor started turning into a field.
