PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — A woman who ran over and killed a Kitsap County man who was out for his regular morning walk has been sentenced to three years in prison. The Kitsap Sun reports that 29-year-old Ali Rochelle Giannini was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to hit-and-run resulting in the death of 61-year-old Michael Dale Keaton in July. She told investigators she fell asleep, hit something and kept driving. In a letter to Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Jennifer Forbes, Giannini said she was sorry for what she had done.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A shooting at a house party in Hartford has left two men dead and another wounded. Police say it appears about two dozen shots were fired outside the home on Hillside Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police says a 28 year old man and a 34 year old man were transferred to Hartford Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead. BOSTON (AP) — A fire in a Boston University dormitory on move-in weekend has forced the evacuation of about 40 students. Boston fire officials say the fire broke out at about 10 p.m. Saturday night and was contained to one room on the third floor of the building on Commonwealth Avenue. The fire set off the sprinkler system in the building and led to water and smoke damage on the first three floors. Fire officials say one student was treated for a minor burn to her leg. AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine's statewide 4-H Program leader has been tapped to serve as interim director of University of Maine Cooperative Extension. Lisa Phelps took over upon the retirement of succeeds longtime director John Rebar on Friday. Rebar began working for UMaine Extension in 1984 and was named director in 2007. A search for a permanent director is underway. Phelps earned her doctorate degree from University of Northern Colorado and joined the UMaine Extension staff in 2001 after working at Colorado State University.
