NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey man convicted of distributing child pornography more than 10 years ago is now facing similar charges. Federal prosecutors say Christopher Gardiner communicated with an undercover FBI agent via a social messaging app during a three-month period earlier this year. BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Officials have voted to allow a redevelopment project in Vermont's largest city to move forward with foundation work. Mynbc5.com reports the Burlington City Council voted 8-2 Monday to allow developers of CityPlace Burlington to continue, despite them not submitting a maximum cost and funding guarantee for the project. THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Police say they have detained a 26-year-old man suspected of threatening an attack on the Dutch Parliament or on the organizer of a Prophet Muhammad cartoon competition scheduled to be held in November. Police didn't name the targeted organizer by name Tuesday, but the cartoon contest is organized by anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders and will be staged in his party's tightly-guarded office in the Parliament complex. (AP) — A new federal study shows people living near a contract sterilization company in a western Chicago suburb face some the country's highest cancer risks from toxic air pollution. The Chicago Tribune reports that federal officials began investigating Sterigenics International last year after surrounding communities were identified on a national map of health hazards from breathing toxic chemicals. DOVER, N.H. (AP) — Police in New Hampshire have charged a nursing assistant with simple assault, accused of covering the mouth of a 92-year-old patient at a nursing center. Eighteen-year-old Samantha Siegel, of Portsmouth, turned herself in at the Dover police station Monday night. Police say on July 8 she "knowingly caused unprivileged physical contact" with the female patient at St. Ann's Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Officials say Amtrak's Downeaster will continue to run from Massachusetts to Maine even without the automatic braking technology known as positive train control. Patricia Quinn, executive director of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, tells the Bangor Daily News the Downeaster doesn't have to have the technology because less than 12 trips travel down the line each day. WASHINGTON (AP) — Defending U.S. support for the Arab-led coalition fighting in Yemen, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Tuesday that U.S. efforts to minimize civilian casualties are paying off, even as a new U.N. report said the governments of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates may have committed war crimes. WASHINGTON (AP) — Women who were secretly videotaped by a once-prominent Orthodox rabbi as they used a Jewish ritual bath would get at least $25,000 each under a proposed $14.25 million settlement of a class-action lawsuit. The settlement involves four religious institutions affiliated with Rabbi Bernard Freundel. It was filed Monday in Washington and needs a judge's approval. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities have identified a teen that was killed during a party on the banks of the Rio Grande south of Albuquerque. KOB-TV reports deputies with Valencia County found 16-year-old Vanessa Ordonez dead Sunday night in Rio Communities. Officials say she had attended a party at the river where several fights broke out and shots were fired. Valencia County officials believe Ordonez was shot and struck by a vehicle.
