INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis City-County councilman has resigned and has pleaded guilty to four counts of battery on a child. Jeffrey Miller entered the plea Wednesday in Hamilton Superior Court. Hamilton County Prosecutor D. Lee Buckingham II, who took over the case in January, struck the deal that downgraded the original three charges of child molestation while still resulting in felony convictions. ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a woman whose body was found in an abandoned rural central Indiana house had been fatally shot. Madison County Coroner Marian Dunnichay said Wednesday that 39-year-old Trinity Parker of Anderson died from two gunshots in the back of her head with a .22 caliber firearm, just like 36-year-old David Lamar Phillips II of Anderson. DENVER (AP) — U.S. government water managers say a vital reservoir on the Colorado River will be able to meet the demands of Mexico and Southwestern U.S. states for the next 13 months, but a looming shortage could trigger cutbacks in late 2019. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — A California-based electric scooter rental company that left scooters on public sidewalks without warning has left two Massachusetts cities. The Boston Globe reports Bird Rides Inc. pulled out of Cambridge and Somerville. The company began renting scooters in both cities last month. Officials in Cambridge and Somerville say Bird never got a permit to conduct business and violated sidewalk safety laws. Both cities sent the company cease and desist letters. Cisco Systems gave a bullish forecast for the current quarter, boosted by corporate spending on upgrades to computer networks. Sales in the fiscal first quarter will grow 5 to 7 percent from the same period a year earlier, the San Jose company said Wednesday.
