OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting Ogden. Investigators say the man in his mid-20s died at a local hospital following the shooting at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of 23rd street. Ogden Police Lt. AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Latest on ranked-choice voting in Maine (all times local): 10 a.m. The courier service contracted to retrieve ballots for additional rounds of ranked-choice tabulations says the process is going smoothly. Mike Israelson from General Courier said drivers had already stopped at about 80 communities by 9 a.m. Thursday. All told, courier drivers have to visit hundreds of towns, including some islands, to retrieve ballots. Maine was the first state to employ the ranked-choice voting system in statewide primaries on Tuesday.

RADFORD, Va. (AP) — Officials say some production is restarting at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Virginia after a fire injured three workers this week. The U.S. Army owns the plant and defense contractor BAE Systems operates it. MASHPEE, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating a report that a fisherman deliberately struck a swan with his boat on a Massachusetts pond, causing injuries that led to the bird's euthanization. A witness tells the Cape Cod Times he saw the boat accelerate into the swan on Mashpee-Wakeby pond on the Mashpee-Sandwich border on May 12. Animal control officers searched for the injured bird for weeks before it was finally brought to a rescue service on June 1.
