Man gets life in prison for stabbing death

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing another man to death_77 times. A Superior Court jury in Worcester found 52-year-old David Roman guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder for the 2015 death of Joseph Stanick. Judge Janet Kenton-Walker imposed the statutory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Stanick's body was found in his Southbridge home in May 2015 with 77 stab wounds. QAD: Fiscal 1Q Earnings Snapshot

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) _ QAD Inc. (QADA) on Wednesday reported fiscal first-quarter net income of $1.4 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier. On a per-share basis, the Santa Barbara, California-based company said it had net income of 7 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 15 cents per share. The enterprise software developer posted revenue of $86.2 million in the period. For the current quarter ending in August, QAD said it expects revenue in the range of $82 million to $83 million. Johnson rejects attack ads; Krebs criticizes state plane use

(AP) — Former Public Utilities commissioner Dusty Johnson says he won't run negative ads in the Republican congressional primary after Secretary of State Shantel Krebs started airing spots criticizing his use of a state airplane. Retired Idaho doc denies wrongdoing in insemination lawsuit

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho fertility doctor accused in a lawsuit of allegedly secretly using his own sperm to inseminate a patient nearly 4 decades ago says he did nothing wrong and doesn't remember using his own sperm for the procedure. Dr. Gerald Mortimer, a retired obstetrician and gynecologist from Idaho Falls, filed his response to the lawsuit in Idaho's U.S. District Court on Wednesday. In it, he contends his patient agreed to let him select the "anonymous donor sperm" as long as he judged it to be appropriate and safe.

BOSTON (AP) — A Massachusetts governor's race candidate is shutting down a nonprofit organization that he founded that ended up on a list of U.S.-based hate groups. Republican Scott Lively has described his Abiding Truth Ministries as pro-family, but his opposition to gay rights has landed him and his Springfield-based ministry on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of designated hate groups. Lively said Wednesday he still believes society should follow the Bible as the guide to sexual morality in public policy.

Prosecutor accused of trading sex for leniency pleads guilty

(AP) — A former Pennsylvania district attorney accused of tipping off female drug dealers and giving them lenient treatment in exchange for sex has pleaded guilty to corruption charges in a deal that will keep him out of jail. Atlanta men get prison for illegally buying, smuggling guns

Edwards agrees to loosen rules on guns in Louisiana churches

Senate approves $100 million for Snyder's Marshall Plan
