YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Residents in a Washington city soon may be able to legally own pit bull terriers again. The Yakima Herald-Republic reports pit bulls have been banned by Yakima city ordinance for more than three decades, but the Yakima City Council is expected Tuesday to take a vote to repeal the ban. LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Lincoln police say a 12-year-old boy shot a nail from a BB gun into the chest of his younger brother. The Lincoln Journal Star reports that the 7-year-old was shot Sunday afternoon. Lincoln police spokeswoman Angela Sands said Monday that the nail struck near the boy's heart. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is leaving in place a ruling that revived two federal lawsuits stemming from the lead-tainted water crisis in Flint, Michigan. The Supreme Court declined Monday to get involved in the cases, leaving in place a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has agreed to decide whether federal immigration law gives the government the power to indefinitely detain any noncitizen it is considering deporting if the person previously committed certain crimes. The Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider the issue. Immigration law says that if noncitizens commit a crime for which they can be deported, the government should take them into custody for potential removal when they're released from prison or jail. Both lanes of the Posey Tube in Oakland will be closed Monday morning as crews work to fix a sinkhole, authorities said. The closure is expected to start at 10 a.m. and the lanes won’t reopen until midnight, according to the Alameda city officials. Until 10 a.m., only one lane in the tube remains open. The closure will have significant traffic delays for morning commuters, officials said. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Republican senator from northwestern Wisconsin is calling it quits. Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls announced Monday that he won't seek a third term in this fall's elections.
