Former SEMO baseball player reaches settlement
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Former Southeast Missouri State University baseball player Broc Kreitler has settled a lawsuit over an injury he suffered during a practice.
The Southeast Missourian reports that the terms of the settlement weren't disclosed in court records. Kreitler had sought "fair and reasonable" damages in excess of $25,000.
The lawsuit said Kreitler was pitching behind an L-shaped pitcher's screen during a March 2015 practice when a ball hit by a teammate bounced through a hole in the screen, striking him in the face. The suit accused the university of "negligence," saying he suffered "permanent and progressive injuries.
