Crawford’s walk-off HR gives Giants 1-0 win
Brandon Crawford found a memorable way to mark the season’s halfway point.
The Giants reached that milepost Wednesday night — 81 games down, 81 to go — and Crawford celebrated by smacking a walk-off home run with one out in the ninth. He connected off Colorado reliever Harrison Musgrave, giving the Giants a 1-0 victory at China Basin.
That allowed manager Bruce Bochy’s crew to improve its record to 42-39, only 4 1/2 games behind division-leading Arizona. This stands in striking contrast to last season’s halfway point, when the Giants already were 22 1/2 games behind the Dodgers.
Madison Bumgarner was terrific, again, Wednesday night.
