Andrea Riseborough is brilliant in Christina Choe’s ‘Nancy’
How many people reading this know the name Andrea Riseborough? She is a brilliant actress and an amazing chameleon, different in every film she makes. So unless it’s your business to pay attention, you might not realize that Wallis Simpson in “W.E.,” Tom Cruise’s girlfriend in “Oblivion,” the extroverted reporter in “Disconnect” and the laid-back hairstylist in “Battle of the Sexes” were all played by the same person.
It took Christina Choe, a writer-director making her feature debut, to realize what Riseborough really is: a star. She is the enigma at the center of “Nancy,” and she holds the screen with the power of her face in close-up.
