WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland's lawmakers on Thursday approved a government bill that provides coherent regulations for in vitro fertilization and guarantees the procedure also to unwed couples. Most of the ruling coalition voted for the bill, while the conservative, Catholic opposition Law and Justice party voted against, saying that IVF breaks the constitutional right to life and treats embryos as an object rather than a human being. Poland already allows IVF in licensed clinics, but lacks coherent legal and logistical regulations.

The chain said Thursday it is linking up with Universal Music Group in a partnership in which some of the music conglomerate's top stars will perform at Marriott hotels, as well as other branding opportunities. HONG KONG (AP) — Hong Kong regulators on Thursday rejected an application for a budget airline joint venture involving Australia's Qantas and China Eastern Airlines, saying it could not be considered a local carrier. Two years after Jetstar Hong Kong applied for the airline license, the southern Chinese city's Air Transport Licensing Authority denied the startup's application, saying its majority foreign ownership meant its main place of business was not in Hong Kong.

SALEM, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation says night pavement-marking work is expected to close one lane of Interstate 93 northbound at the new Exit 2 interchange in Salem. The one-lane closure is expected to take place from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. Crews are re-striping the interstate. At the conclusion, I-93 northbound traffic will be shifted to the newly paved portion of the roadway. The work is part of the $41 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 2.

HOPATCONG, N.J. (AP) — A 10-year-old boy is dead after he fell overboard and was struck by a pontoon boat his father rented for a family outing in northern New Jersey. Flynn says Christopher D'Amico was driving a 20-foot pontoon boat when his son fell into Lake Hopatcong and was struck by the vessel.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Warsaw firefighters say that a Ryanair plane carrying 160 passengers from Oslo, Norway, to Warsaw's Modlin Airport made an emergency landing there because there was a suspicion of explosives on the aircraft. Spokesman Pawel Pomorski said Thursday that 13 units of firefighters assisted the safe landing. No one was hurt. He added that explosives experts are checking the plane. The passeners have been safely evacuated. Modlin is a small, auxiliary airport in Warsaw and is only used by Ryanair.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Asian stock markets were lower Thursday as negotiations to keep Greece from defaulting dragged on without result, dimming hopes of a deal this week. Crucial talks between Greece and its international creditors ended without result early Thursday, casting fresh doubt over the country's future in the euro currency and piling new pressure on negotiators to reach a deal later in the day. (AP) — New Hampshire State Police are making their last public push for the new "hands-free" law that goes into effect July 1, requiring many people to change their driving habits with cellphones and wireless devices. Under the law, drivers will no longer be permitted to use hand-held electronic devices, including cellphones, GPS, tablets, iPods, iPads or other devices that require data entry.
