Seattle gang detectives are investigating a Rainier Beach shooting that left a man wounded in the leg. Officers responded to several reports of gunfire about 6:15 p.m. in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Police are investigating a shooting that injured one man in the Rainier Beach neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A New York-bound Turkish Airlines plane carrying 292 passengers made an emergency landing Thursday at Copenhagen's international airport after an old camera bag, possibly forgotten by a passenger, caused a bomb scare. Police spokesman Christian Olsgaard said the discovery led to bomb-sniffing dogs and army bomb experts to comb the aircraft.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Average long-term U.S. mortgage rates were mixed this week, marking slight increases or declines but remaining close to high levels for the year. Mortgage giant Freddie Mac said Thursday the average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage edged up to 4.02 percent this week from 4 percent a week earlier. Government data issued Tuesday showed that purchases of new U.S. homes surged in the Northeast and West last month, as steady job growth over the past year has lifted the housing market.

President and CEO Geoff Bedford said Thursday that the filings are an important step in helping to restructure its $1.7 billion debt with major creditors. DETROIT (AP) — Mitsubishi is recalling about 460,000 cars in the U.S. because the air bags have the potential to push sun visors into passengers and cause injuries in a crash. Documents filed with U.S. safety regulators show that five passengers were hurt when the air bags hit sun visors that were down.
