SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have called up outfielder Franklin Gutierrez from Triple-A Tacoma, nearly two years after he last played in a major league game. Gutierrez was in the starting lineup and playing left field for the Mariners in their series finale against Kansas City. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A large tractor stolen from a Utah construction site was found abandoned at a Mormon church, apparently after the thieves took it on a ride through Salt Lake City's suburbs, officials said Wednesday. The sheriff's office had posted a missing vehicle alert on its Facebook page and a tipster had shared a photo with police of the scene along the shady, residential street. Crime scene investigators have processed the machine, typically used to move dirt or debris, for evidence and fingerprints.

The U.S. Senate, on Wednesday, passed by a 60-38 vote and sent to the White House legislation giving President Obama “fast track” authority to negotiate a sweeping, 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement. The Seattle Fire Department reported Wednesday afternoon that a 1-year-old child fell from a balcony in the Columbia City area and suffered a head injury. The baby fell from a second-story landing about 4:24 p.m. in the 3800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, according to fire department reports. The child fell about 15 feet onto dirt but was conscious and alert when first responders arrived. Medics took the baby to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

King County prosecutors charged a 35-year-old man Wednesday for the February death of his girlfriend in a vacant Bellevue apartment. Justin Bacani is charged with second-degree murder, accused of killing Annalise Harrison, 29. A King County Superior Court judge raised his bail from $2 million to $5 million. He was arrested Monday and booked into King County Jail. Jason James Mora Seattle police seek the public’s help in nabbing a man they believe committed a $40,000 heist at a Capitol Hill home earlier this month. Detectives suspect 41-year-old Jason James Mora is the man who broke into a home in the 2300 block of Harvard Avenue East June 12. The burglar lifted tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry and cash, police say.
