The Wellens abuse online doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Saints seem to have got a bit of a football style element of fans who’ve jumped on board in recent seasons. Abuse of oppositions fans and players is a 7 day hobby for football fans and they’ll turn on their own in quick time. The sort of ones I’m referring to, were the lads giving it to their own fans in advance of last years Good Friday game, saying they’d sit where they wanted and would be telling people to do one if they challenged them (they weren’t that polite though). I’m a big listener to podcasts particularly around players who have played in both comps and one thing that is very evident that the NRL off seasons are far more brutal than than those in SL.

Interestingly though NRL careers are generally much shorter than SL.

Matty Johns highlighted this recently.

The average NRL player only plays 49 to 75 games.

About 36% play less than 10 games.

75% are out of the game after two years

88% out after five years.

Having watched Barrow in the cup game against Oldham, my initial thought was that we could beat them. However not for the first time we flatter to deceive so although I expect an improvement from last Sunday (be hard to be any bloody poorer) I can't call it. Matchday 17 should be interesting given the chop and change for the last two matches. Do we need an additional playmaker at 13 and who fits that role? Realistically I don’t think we’ll win any of our next three games v Sts, Leeds and Warrington. We need to be patient.

Firstly, we need to choose the right Coach and get them in place over the next 2 weeks.

We need 3-4 players now to bolster our weak squad. Short term deals if necessary. We have to replace Hoy, Brown plus need 2 others. Ideally a half, centre and 2 forwards.
