TSG “crack” Hertha in their home fortress
Personnel and tactics:
Julian Nagelsmann had almost everyone available to him to select for the squad that was to take on fifth-placed Berlin. After weeks out, Mark Uth returned to the squad, but was on the bench to begin with. In a similar situation was Ermin Bicakcic, who made way for Kevin Vogt, due to his suspension. As usual, our number 22 formed a defensive-three along with Niklas Süle and Benjamin Hübner in front of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. There was even a little reason to celebrate before the game kicked off, as it was Hübner and Süle’s 50th and 100th Bundesliga game respectively.
Another change that was made up front featured Nadiem Amiri starting in favour of Adam Szalai. Jeremy Toljan and Steven Zuber were deployed on the flanks to start the game, both of whom had reason to celebrate owing to victories for their respective teams during the international break. Julian Nagelsmann deployed the ever-reliable Sebastian Rudy, whilst Kerem Demirbay and Andrej Kramaric also started as attacking options. Right up top was Sandro Wagner.
Mark Uth was able to celebrate his return from injury in the 65th minute, as he was Nagelmann’s first substitute, coming on for Nadiem Amiri. Shortly before the final whistle, TSG made a double-substitution in which Adam Szalai took the place of Andrej Kramaric, whilst Kerem Demirbay was replaced by Eugen Polanski.
