Just in: Senate summons Prof Sagay for allegedly insulting lawmakers
The Nigerian Senate has summoned the chairman of the presidential advisory committee against Corruption, Prof Itse Sagay (SAN), for making alleged disparaging statement against the lawmakers.
Sagay is alleged to have made the disparaging comment against the Senate in reaction to the protest by the lawmakers against the retention of Mr Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the EFCC.
Deputy Senate leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, moved the motion during plenary on Wednesday, March 29, and it was supported by two other lawmakers, Ahmad Lawan, Senate leader and Peter Nwaoboshi.

The lawmakers who took turns criticising, Sagay asked the legal icon to name the persons with questionable character in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
NAIJ.com recalled that Senators on Tuesday, March 28 threatened to reject all list of appointees that President Muhammadu Buhari sends to the house for confirmation.
The Senators were angry that President Buhari is keeping on the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Ibrahim Magu even after being rejected by the upper house of legislature.
They also took offense at comments credited to the president's close aide Professor of law Itse Sagay who said confirmation by the Senate was just a 'mere' duty.
The Senators argued that if the constitution did not deem the confirmation necessary, it would not have stated it out clearly.
