‘Duck Dynasty’ Producers Dealt Blow in Court, Can’t Return to Company

Despite receiving good news last week, “Duck Dynasty” producers Scott and Deirdre Gurney are still out at their company.

A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge denied the Gurneys’ request for an Order to Show Cause on Tuesday, which supports ITV America’s view that they shouldn’t return to the heads of Gurney Productions after being accused of fraud.

“We have held from the very beginning that we are extremely confident of success in the merits of our case,” a spokesperson from ITV said in a press release obtained by TheWrap.

The Gurneys recently scored a win in their case against ITV last week after a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge issued a preliminary mandatory injunction that ruled the couple should be reinstated.

However, ITV immediately filed an appeal, which kept the Gurneys out until it could be decided.

Attorneys for the Gurneys then filed an order to show cause to uphold the injunction, but that order was rejected, essentially upholding the appeal.

This latest decision deals a blow to the Gurneys, who claim ITV falsely accused them of fraud and breach of contract in order to lower the value of the company. ITV claims the Gurneys engaged in fraud to inflate profits.

“The amount of compelling evidence against the Gurneys continues to mount, beyond what was included in our initial filing, and we fully expect to win once the allegations of deceit, fraud and self-dealing by the Gurneys are exposed at a full trial,” the spokesperson for ITV continued. “We are happy to be moving toward the discovery phase of the case.”

Gurneys attorney Michael Weinsten did not respond to a request for a comment.
