Berlin (dpa) - Thousands of men and women throughout Germany on Saturday took part in protests against new US President Donald Trump, expressing solidarity with the women‘s march under way in Washington.The largest demonstration took place in Frankfurt, where more than 2,000 people marched through the city.Hundreds gathered in front of the US embassy in Berlin in a rally organized by Democrats Abroad, the official branch of the Democratic Party for US citizens living abroad, German police said."No justice, no peace," the protesters shouted in Berlin, while others chanted, "I‘m a feminist."Those marching near Brandenburg Gate in the German capital held placards that read: "We are the resistance. We are the majority," and "The future is ours - we just have to fight for it." In Munich, around 600 people marched from the US consulate general to the centre of town. In Heidelberg, 500 took to the streets to voice support for diversity. All protest marches passed off peacefully, police said.Organizers expect more than 200,000 participants for the march in the US capital to express support for women‘s rights. The demonstrators also want to protest the misogyny, violence, racism, homophobia and religious intolerance they say characterized Trump‘s election campaign.
