Donald Trump Is Wrong About DC-Area Inauguration Gown Shortage

President-elect Donald Trump told The New York Times on Monday that “All the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”

But the comment has been swiftly discredited by The Washington Post.

“We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars,” Trump went on to tell The Times.

The number of people, including celebrities, who will turn out for the event is not yet clear, but WaPo knows one thing: D.C. shoppers can easily find a dress for the historic day.

The vice president of a Washington D.C.-area Neiman Marcus store told the Post that if someone wanted a dress for the inauguration and came into her store they would have, “More than a thousand evening gowns to choose from.”

Don’t worry if Neiman Marcus isn’t your style, as the D.C. area has plenty of options.

“We always have dresses,” said Krista Johnson, the owner of Georgetown designer- consignment shop Ella Rue told the Post. “Unless a thousand people came in today, we’d still have choices.”

As TheWrap first reported, Trump’s team is struggling to book A-list performers for his inaugural festivities, with two talent bookers saying they were offered ambassadorships if they could deliver marquee names. The inauguration team has its sights set on top-tier talents like Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Aretha Franklin, and are willing to pay steep fees for the performers.
