Libya central banks to reunite after seven-year split

British supermarket giant Tesco faces the prospect of more empty shelves this Christmas as drivers and warehouse workers go on strike over pay, Unite trade union warned on Monday. Mellieħa murder: Flatmate testifies about regular fights between couple

Il-Ħaġar museum and cultural centre of Victoria will mark the first centenary of the traditional procession with Baby Jesus created by Dun Ġorġ Preca in 1921 with the publication of a set of exclusive Christmas cards. COVID-19 voucher scheme mess leaves NAO audit inconclusive

The National Audit Office could not conclude its probe into the first round of COVID-19 vouchers, which cost the government €45 million, because data was missing or incomplete. The NAO’s own attempt to reconcile the vouchers issued with those redeemed proved “futile”, a new report, published Monday, has revealed. The office said it had encountered “significant problems” when it was auditing the voucher scheme, which was intended to boost economic activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The MSE Equity Price Index opened the week in negative territory as it slid by 0.65% to a 1-year low of 3,749.651 points. MIA, IHI, GO, Malita and Farsons all ended lower while only HSBC closed higher. Meanwhile, three other companies ended the day unchanged as the total value of shares traded was the highest in over a week at €0.16 million. Malta International Airport plc lost 2.6% to a 1-year low of €5.70 albeit most trades took place at last Friday’s closing price of €5.85. A total of 1,208 shares changed hands across four deals. First direct flights to Croatia introduced

Malta International Airport on Saturday welcomed its first flight from the Croatian capital of Zagreb. The Zagreb route is the first direct link between Malta and Croatia. In a statement, the Luqa airport on Monday said it had also introduced a new flight to Parma.  The flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout winter by Lauda Europe and Malta Air respectively. Both airlines are part of Ryanair Holdings.

A university disciplinary committee will decide whether a dean should be sanctioned over plagiarism.  Last week it was revealed that an article co-authored by the university’s Dean of the Faculty for Social Wellbeing Andrew Azzopardi was removed from an academic journal on the basis of plagiarism. PN communications chief resigns, citing 'personal reasons'

BoE warns UK inflation to top 5.0% on energy costs

British inflation will “comfortably” top five per cent in April due to rocketing energy prices, well above the Bank of England’s target, a high-ranking BoE official forecast on Monday. Reports in the local media said on Tuesday that the Wanderers approached the former Valletta FC striker with a view of bringing him back to Maltese football next month and an agreement was finally reached.  The German Football Association (DFB) on Monday opened an investigation into explosive remarks made by England midfielder Jude Bellingham about the referee after Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich. Man, 84, seriously injured in Xagħra crash

A senior citizen’s life is in danger after he crashed his car, overturning it, in Xagħra on Monday morning. The 84-year-old man, who is from the Gozitan village, was driving a Daihatsu Sirion on Triq Tas-Sruġ at 10.15am when he lost control of the vehicle, crashed into a wall and overturned the car in the process.
