Motorcyclist killed in Waukegan crash
A 50-year-old man was riding a Harley-Davidson when he was struck by a semitrailer that tried to merge into a lane, police said.
A Beach Park man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a semitrailer Tuesday in Waukegan.
Officers responded to reports of a collision about 1:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Lewis Avenue, Waukegan police said in a statement.
Officers found a 50-year-old man with serious injuries from the crash, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the man was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson northbound on Lewis when he was struck by a semi also traveling north that tried to merge into the right lane, police said.
The driver of the semi, a 30-year-old man from Racine, Wisconsin, is cooperating with investigators, police said. He hasn’t been issued any citations and drug and toxicology test results were pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
