Emergency loans available for businesses hurt by gas blasts

LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — A $1 million emergency loan fund has been set up for Massachusetts businesses directly impacted by a series of natural gas explosions and fires. Republican Gov. Charlie Baker and officials from Lawrence, Andover and North Andover announced the fund on Friday. Police: Wounded officer's body camera struck by bullet

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say they can't retrieve footage from the body camera worn by an officer wounded during a fatal shootout, because the camera was struck by a bullet. Citing a Thursday statement from police spokesman T.J. Smith, The Baltimore Sun reports that the damage to Phillip Lippe's body camera Sunday was so severe that the data couldn't be saved. Police: Killing of 2 young men was drug-related

HAMLIN, N.Y. (AP) — Police say the slayings of two young men found in a burning car behind a western New York warehouse earlier this month were drug-related. Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter says 19-year-old Mason Earle, of Hamlin, admitted to police that he shot 18-year-old Bruce Kane of the town of Sweden and 20-year-old Alexander Burrow of Clarkson. Authorities look for suspect in deadly St. Louis shooting

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Authorities are looking for a St. Louis man who has been charged in a deadly shooting in the city. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 54-year-old Eugene Phillip Hampton was charged Thursday with murder and armed criminal action in the death of 44-year-old Rodrick Pitts. He was ordered held without bail when captured. Police say the shooting happened Wednesday after the two met in the home where Hampton lives. Guilty pleas in crash that killed 2 teens, injured another

Rachel Kayl has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of criminal vehicular operation in the December 2016 crash that took the lives of Bridget Giere and Stephanie Carlson, both 16, and caused severe injuries to Samantha Redden. Aberdeen getting new and larger Veterans Affairs clinic

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Aberdeen is getting a new and larger Veterans Affairs clinic. The American News reports that the federal agency has hired a North Carolina-based construction company to build the facility. The Sioux Falls Veterans Affairs Health Care System says ground is to be broken in the spring. The current Aberdeen VA clinic has 8,141 square feet.
