LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — A $1 million emergency loan fund has been set up for Massachusetts businesses directly impacted by a series of natural gas explosions and fires. Republican Gov. Charlie Baker and officials from Lawrence, Andover and North Andover announced the fund on Friday. COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Danish police on Friday cut off the eastern island of Zealand, where the capital of Copenhagen sits, from the rest of the country as well as from neighboring Germany and Sweden due to "a major police operation." Bridges from Zealand to the central island of Funen and to neighboring Sweden have been closed down, as have ferry crossings to Germany and to Sweden. BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say they can't retrieve footage from the body camera worn by an officer wounded during a fatal shootout, because the camera was struck by a bullet. Citing a Thursday statement from police spokesman T.J. Smith, The Baltimore Sun reports that the damage to Phillip Lippe's body camera Sunday was so severe that the data couldn't be saved. HAMLIN, N.Y. (AP) — Police say the slayings of two young men found in a burning car behind a western New York warehouse earlier this month were drug-related. Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter says 19-year-old Mason Earle, of Hamlin, admitted to police that he shot 18-year-old Bruce Kane of the town of Sweden and 20-year-old Alexander Burrow of Clarkson. THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The arrests of seven men suspected of plotting a major extremist attack somewhere in the Netherlands neutralized "the concrete threat" the cell posed, the Dutch counterterror coordinator said Friday. ST. LOUIS (AP) — Authorities are looking for a St. Louis man who has been charged in a deadly shooting in the city. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 54-year-old Eugene Phillip Hampton was charged Thursday with murder and armed criminal action in the death of 44-year-old Rodrick Pitts. He was ordered held without bail when captured. Police say the shooting happened Wednesday after the two met in the home where Hampton lives. The divorce complaint was filed Sept. 12 in Ocean County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences between JWoww, whose real name is Jenni Farley, and Roger Mathews. The Courier Journal reports 21-year-old Demonjhea Jordan was killed in April while fleeing a robbery. Jordan's parents say Officers Joshua Weyer, Benjamin Dean and Kody Despain and Detective Joseph Fox used "unauthorized and unnecessary deadly force." Authorities say 34-year old Christopher Riley was arrested without incident in a city park about 11 p.m. Thursday. OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report says Omaha's Glenn Cunningham Lake would be closed to visitors and the lake drained to kill off two invasive species there. The Omaha World-Herald reports that the goal is to eliminate zebra mussels and common carp from the lake, lest they destroy the lake's entire fishery. ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A driver accused of causing a crash that killed two teenagers and severely injuring a third in eastern Minnesota has admitted excessive speed contributed to the accident. Rachel Kayl has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of criminal vehicular operation in the December 2016 crash that took the lives of Bridget Giere and Stephanie Carlson, both 16, and caused severe injuries to Samantha Redden. ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Aberdeen is getting a new and larger Veterans Affairs clinic. The American News reports that the federal agency has hired a North Carolina-based construction company to build the facility. The Sioux Falls Veterans Affairs Health Care System says ground is to be broken in the spring. The current Aberdeen VA clinic has 8,141 square feet.
