Raiders QB Derek Carr seeks the right balance
Jon Gruden thought Derek Carr could have been more aggressive in a Week 1 loss to the Rams.
He wished Carr had checked that impulse late in a Week 3 loss to the Dolphins.
This week, Carr chuckled when asked about finding the right balance with his head coach.
“It’s funny, man,” the Raiders’ quarterback said Wednesday. “We’re figuring that out together.”
The Carr-Gruden pairing that was slated as central to the Raiders’ improvement this season and beyond has produced inconsistent results through its first three games.
Carr has completed 76.6 percent of his passes, the second-highest rate of any quarterback with at least 100 attempts, behind only Drew Brees (80.6). His 936 passing yards rank sixth.
