Raiders’ pass rush, with two sacks in two games, has ‘got to get there’
As Case Keenum dropped back near midfield with 18 seconds left Sunday, Raiders defensive tackle Clinton McDonald shed his blocker and saw a clear path to the Broncos’ quarterback.
McDonald arrived a split-second too late. Keenum delivered a throw to receiver Tim Patrick, who weaved through two missed tackles for a 26-yard gain to set up Denver’s game-winning field goal.
On Monday, McDonald, who played most of the 20-19 loss in his Oakland debut, said he thought the defense’s margin was just that slim for getting off the field on its final series.
“We didn’t generate enough pressure up front,” said McDonald, who signed with the Raiders last week. “Sacks would have killed the drive. That’s what we had to do up front.
