A’s Trevor Cahill gets trigger-point injection for back soreness
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Trevor Cahill received a trigger-point injection for discomfort in his upper back and the right-hander will miss at least his next start, according to A’s manager Bob Melvin.
“Hopefully that alleviates the issue,” Melvin said. “We’ll see how he responds.”
Cahill has tightness in the rhomboid muscle behind his right arm, and he will not throw for a few days, which means he will not get a chance to start twice on the next homestand. Cahill has a 1.49 ERA at home and a 7.02 ERA on the road.
This is the third injury to sideline Cahill this season; he also missed 10 days with a right elbow impingement in May and a month with an Achilles tendon strain in June and July.
