Chronicle top 25 rankings: Losses to national powers don’t change positioning
The top seven teams in The Chronicle’s top 25 rankings remain in place this week, but after that there is plenty of movement.
Fifth-ranked Pittsburg and No. 7 Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland both lost, but both to MaxPreps nationally-ranked teams — ninth-ranked Centennial-Corona and No. 12 De La Salle-Concord, respectively — so neither team dropped.
After O’Dowd, No. 8 Menlo-Atherton made the biggest move, jumping eight spots following a 28-21 win over 12th-ranked Mitty.
California-San Ramon also jumped eight spots to No. 17 following a 42-27 win at previous No. 8 Freedom-Oakley. California lost the previous week 37-27 to Antioch, (3-0) which moved up to No. 14 following a 34-13 win over previously ranked San Leandro.
