A’s reacquire starter Aaron Brooks, designate Danny Coulombe for assignment
Aaron Brooks isn’t the best known player from the Ben Zobrist deal with Kansas City, but with the key figure from that trade, Sean Manaea, on the A’s DL, the team reacquired Brooks on Monday.
Oakland, which has seven starters from the 40-man roster on the DL, obtained Brooks, 28, from Milwaukee for cash considerations. Brooks was 9-4 with a 3.35 ERA at Triple-A Colorado Springs, which is a spot notoriously poor for pitchers. Opponents hit .263 against him in 26 games, 15 starts.
Brooks was 2-1 with a 2.00 ERA in four August starts and was called up Thursday but designated for assignment two days later without an appearance. He has not pitched in the majors since 2015, when he was 3-4 with a 6.
