Federal courthouse in Springfield getting $2.6M face-lift
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The federal courthouse in Springfield is getting a $2.6 million face-lift.
The State Journal-Register reports the U.S. General Services Administration is repairing the exterior of the Paul Findley Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse.
GSA spokeswoman Cat Langel says weather exposure has worn down the exterior walls of the building, which was constructed in 1930. Crews are fixing the building's limestone walls and terra cotta cornice. It also will be power washed to remove black stains that have developed over time.
GSA also is spending $250,000 to improve the building's entrances, including repairing and repainting historic cast iron entryway frames.
