The threat of war between the United States and North Korea, exacerbated by intensifying rhetoric between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, is palpable on the streets of Pyongyang.

That is the case according to Nicholas Kristof, a veteran New York Times columnist who recently visited North Korea's capital city after spending almost five years to get a visa.

Sally Jones, a British jihadi who recruited online for the Islamic State group, has been killed in Syria by a US drone along with her 12-year-old son, The Sun newspaper reported on Thursday.

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Democratic U.S. congressman is asking the Energy Department's watchdog to investigate Energy Secretary Rick Perry's travel on chartered aircraft, the congressman said at a hearing on Capitol Hill on Thursday.

At least 23 people have been killed by wildfires still raging in Northern California. Two of them were Charles and Sara Rippey, according to ABC News, who had been married for 75 years. 

Charles, also known as Peach, 100, and Sara, 98, died when flames engulfed their home, according to ABC News. The fire apparently happened too quickly for them to evacuate, their son Mike said. Sara "was paralyzed, she had a stroke about five years ago" so escaping was impossible, he said.

CBL Properties is taking a stand against Black Friday.

For the second year in a row, the mall operator that manages 62 malls across the country will close all of its locations for the entirety of Thanksgiving Day, according to a letter from its CEO, Stephen Lebovitz.

Lebovitz told CNBC that his company had "such overwhelming support from last year's decision," they felt "validated."

A surreal video shows a US Postal Service worker delivering mail to houses in a California neighborhood devastated by wildfires.

Drone photographer Douglas Thron said he was filming the destruction in Santa Rosa, California, when he noticed a postal truck driving past charred vehicles and houses that were burned to the ground.

"It was a trippy thing — he was actually delivering the mail," he told San Jose's Mercury News.

BlackRock, the world's largest money manager with $5.69 trillion in assets under management, reported better-than-expected earnings on Wednesday, which sent its stock to a record high. 

And shares could go even higher, according to Credit Suisse. "Following 3Q17 results, BLK remains our top traditional asset manager Outperform as we forecast strong net flows in 2018/19 and EPS growth of 15-20%," analyst Craig Siegenthaler said in a note Thursday.

Southwest Airlines is getting ready to fly to Hawaii!

The airline said Thursday it will start selling tickets the Aloha State in 2018. When the service will actually launch has yet to be revealed. Southwest is currently securing approval to land in Hawaii from the Federal Aviation Administration.
