WASHINGTON (AP) — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is pushing Congress to pass a measure that the U.S. would not fire its nuclear weapons unless another country does so first.

But the California Democrat insisted Thursday that her suggestion had nothing to do with President Donald Trump even though it comes in the wake of Trump's bellicose threats against North Korea and his reported suggestion that the nation's nuclear arsenal should increase in size.

Bloomberg reports President Donald Trump was angry to learn his tax plan would raise taxes on some middle-class families, and that Republicans will look to address Trump's anger by revisiting their proposal to repeal the deduction for state and local taxes.

Trump is right to be concerned, but he apparently still doesn't fully understand the problem.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A man planted a Mason jar filled with explosive chemicals and nails at a western North Carolina airport last week and vowed to "fight a war on US soil," according to court documents released Tuesday.

The criminal complaint written by an FBI agent said investigators found the improvised explosive device on Friday at the Asheville airport near a terminal entrance. Asheville police bomb technicians then rendered it safe.

Tesla just issued a voluntary recall for 11,000 Model X SUVs because the seats could fail in the event of a crash.

The electric car maker emailed Tesla customers on Thursday regarding the recall, stating that "a small number of cables in the second row fold-flat seats" may need to be adjusted. The recall affects Model X SUVs built between October 28, 2016 and September 1, 2017.

President Donald Trump's inner circle is said to be facing fears that the biggest threat to his presidency is not impeachment, but rather his cabinet using the 25th Amendment to declare him "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."

A US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory committee just gave a critical recommendation for a cutting-edge gene therapy. 

The treatment, called Luxturna, treats Leber congenital amaurosis, a hereditary form of blindness. It's been tested in people with the condition who specifically have a faulty RPE65 gene.  

On Thursday, an FDA advisory committee panel voted 16-0 to recommend the drug for approval.

The FDA can take the panel's recommendation into consideration but doesn't necessarily rule the same way.

Maverick Capital is starting two quant funds, according to documents seen by Business Insider.

The Maverick Fundamental Quant Funds will accept money starting January 1, 2018 and will close once assets reach $1 billion in each, the documents show. The funds will prioritize existing Maverick investors.

Traditional stock pickers have been venturing into quant strategies over the past few years. And quant strategies have been hoovering up assets.

Bitcoin soared past $5,000 for the first time early Thursday morning and it continued to hit to new heights throughout the trading day. 

The red-hot digital currency, which is up more than 400% this year, blew past $5,300 to $5,382 just after 12 p.m. ET. Sell-off pressure has since pushed the coin back down below $5,300.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Federal Reserve may not need to raise interest rates much further, if at all, given an economy that remains wobbly and an inflation rate that has fallen short of the central bank’s target for five years running, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard said.
