CHINA: Don't hold us responsible for solving North Korea

BusinessInsider.com

Carlos Barria/Reuters

BEIJING (AP) — China on Tuesday said it shouldn't be held responsible alone for solving the North Korean nuclear standoff, and accused other countries of shirking their responsibilities in the effort to reduce tensions.

The complaints, made in unusually strident language, follow a phone conversation between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this month in which the Chinese leader warned of "some negative factors" that were harming China-U.S. relations... Читать дальше...

The 30 best-selling music artists of all time, ranked by platinum albums

BusinessInsider.com

AP

In the decades before streaming-era rules and digital downloads inflated album sales, platinum certification was more difficult for artists to obtain.

When an artist achieved platinum status back then — selling a million or more physical copies of an album — it took a greater, more fervent effort from fans (driving to record stores, finding an album, handing over your hard-earned cash for it), but many acts reached platinum certification routinely nonetheless.

Using RIAA data... Читать дальше...

Red-hot tech stocks could be derailed by the Fed

BusinessInsider.com

US Air Force/Capt. David Liapis

The fate of the red-hot tech stocks dominating the US stock market could rest in the hands of the Federal Reserve.

The so-called FAANG group — consisting of Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google — has traded inversely to 10-year Treasury yields for the better part of the past decade, according to data compiled by Credit Suisse.

So if the Fed continues to raise interest rates as planned, those high-flying tech stocks are likely to come under pressure... Читать дальше...

BusinessInsider.com

Donald Trump, Jr., the president's eldest son, has always been the most detail-oriented, business-focused child, leaving the spotlight to his father and his sister, Ivanka.

"I know the entertainment stuff helps us," he told Forbes in 2006. "But somebody's got to stay here to remind everybody that we build buildings."

Today, Jr. is the one in charge of building those buildings, now leading The Trump Organization with his brother, Eric.

But his life hasn't been without drama... Читать дальше...

The Fed’s plan to shrink its $4.5 trillion balance sheet leaves open 2 crucial issues

BusinessInsider.com

REUTERS/Joshua Roberts

Federal Reserve officials are pretty proud of their plan to reduce their balance sheet following a sharp expansion during and after the Great Recession.

Policymakers are especially excited they were able to announce the plan's contours without having markets totally freak out, like they did in 2013 when then-Chairman Ben Bernanke gave the first hint that the Fed would be ceasing its bond-buying program. Bond yields spiked sharply higher at the time in an event that became known as the taper-tantrum. Читать дальше...

RANKED: All the Marvel Cinematic Universe's post-credits scenes, from worst to best

BusinessInsider.com

Marvel

The Marvel movie ends, and the credits start to roll. You see some people in your row start to gather their things and leave. Amateurs.

But not you. You stay in your seat, just like you have since you first saw "Iron Man" in 2008 and heard whispers of an extra scene after the credits. It seemed unlikely — why would anyone want to stay that long once the film is over? But you waited, and your patience was rewarded. Now you know not to leave the theater until every last name... China says the 'China responsibility theory' on North Korea has to stop

BusinessInsider.com

Damir Sagolj/Reuters

BEIJING (Reuters) - China hit back on Tuesday in unusually strong terms at repeated calls from the United States to put more pressure on North Korea, urging a halt to what it called the "China responsibility theory", and saying all parties needed to pull their weight.

U.S President Trump took a more conciliatory tone at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday, but he has expressed some impatience that China, with its close economic and diplomatic ties to Pyongyang... Читать дальше...

UBS released a list of what its equities analysts view to be the most crowded trades in the market right now.

As active managers pile into these stocks, the price climbs. This moving-with-the-herd strategy can pay off in a bull market.

But there is risk built into that strategy as well. Essentially, the first sign of trouble can lead to a rush to sell with everyone rushing towards the exits.

UBS put together this overweight list using institutional ownership data provided by FactSet. Читать дальше...
