WASHINGTON - Chipmaker Qualcomm will ask the U.S. International Trade Commission to bar Apple from selling some iPhones and iPads in the United States, on the grounds that they infringe on six Qualcomm patents.

Qualcomm, which also supplies chips to Apple, says the six patents help devices perform well without draining the battery.

Stocks tumbled lower on Thursday amid mounting investor uncertainty following the release of economic data that was weaker than expected.

Starbucks has an understaffing problem, according to nearly nine out of 10 workers surveyed in a recent study. 

Coworker.org, an online platform that allows workers to organize around certain issues, surveyed 184 Starbucks employees and 89% said that staffing was a problem at their locations over the past three months.
