Scottish guy stumbles upon a thief proof van

Almost 60 firefighters are on the scene after a fire broke out in a South London tower block. Footage shows emergency services on the scene as smoke billows out of the building. Eight fire engines were called out to deal with the fire on the 13th floor of a block of flats in Winstanley road in Battersea. The blaze began just after 1 PM on Monday and was brought under control around 2 PM, the London Fire Brigade tweeted. The cause is not yet known and it is unclear wether there were any injuries.

Bad news for air travelers. There will be strikes at four airports in Germany this Tuesday. Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne and Bremen will be hit. Ground staff and, in some cases, the fire brigades will stop working. The Verdi trade union is organising the strike and says that sweeping restrictions are to be expected. The day is part of a nationwide strike wave in the public sector that will continue until 13 April. Verdi is asking for better pay for employees. Hundreds of thieves made a clean getaway after looting an overturned lorry of its load of washing powder as police watched on helplessly. The lorry was full of boxes of MAQ brand washing powder when it overturned in the Midvaal municipality of north-eastern South Africa's Gauteng Province. A video shot by a passenger in a passing car shows hundreds of people at the scene, with many standing on the side of the felled lorry. This is the moment Western tourists appear to damage a rare flower that takes years of cultivation to bloom in Indonesia. Video from Agam in West Sumatra's Pandan forest shows the foreigners, believed to be from the UK and South Korea, inspecting the Amorphophallus titanum, also known as the corpse flower. One tourist in a chequered shirt and glasses can be seen using a piece of sharpened bamboo to poke the flower. The European Commission's First Vice President, Frans Timmermans, is in Warsaw to try and resolve a spat which threatens to strip Poland of its voting rights. He's meeting Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki over a controversial overhaul of the country's justice system.
