Berkeley Playhouse’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’
For its production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” children’s theater company Berkeley Playhouse champions progressive values in two ways. Its nontraditional casting showcases the talents of a diverse ensemble, and at each performance, the theater accepts donations of books for the East Bay Children’s Book Project, which gets books to underserved kids, hoping that, like Belle in the musical, they’ll become lifelong bibliophiles.
Through Dec. 23. $22-$40. Julia Morgan Theater, 2640 College Ave., Berkeley. (510) 845-8542 x351.
