A four-vehicle crash in San Francisco Thursday injured five people, including two who left with possible life-threatening injuries, and created major street closures near the Palace of Fine Arts, officials said. Reports of a collision on Divisadero and Lombard streets came in around noon, said Officer Giselle Talkoff of the San Francisco Police Department. Victims involved in the crash suffered from minor-to-critical injuries, said Lt. Jonathan Baxter, a spokesman for the San Francisco Fire Department.

A woman was being treated for exposure to lead oxide and lead azide after employees at a South Bay plant reported an explosion, authorities said. BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) — Police said two fast-acting Utah parents disarmed their 15-year-old son at a Utah junior high school Thursday after the teenager brought the family's shotgun and handgun to school and fired a round into the ceiling of a classroom without injuring anyone. COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — The University of Missouri's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has received $1.4 million for its proposed plan to build a new south end zone facility at its stadium. The Columbia Missourian (http://bit.ly/2gL2ikq ) reports the funds are from an anonymous donor. The university has been accepting contributions for the new facility for several months. The St. Mary County Sheriff's office in Maryland says the beaver walked through the door at the Dollar General on Monday, wandered into the Christmas section and knocked a few items over before being safely removed by animal control. Sheriff's office Spokeswoman Jennifer Stone says the animal has since been released to a wildlife rehabilitator.

(AP) — Frustrated with the prostitutes who he says walk in front of his home day and night, a West Virginia man has put up signs urging them to take their business elsewhere. The signs also warn that he has set up video surveillance equipment and sends any footage of suspected illegal activity to the police.

During Engstrom's tenure, UM faced reports of uninvestigated sexual assaults that led to a Department of Justice Investigation of the university as well as city police and county prosecutors. Engstrom was criticized by some for firing the football coach and athletic director in March 2012 amid the rape investigation.
