NEW YORK (AP) — A new agreement reached in the sale of Harvey Weinstein's movie studio won't leave Hollywood stars like Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep holding the bag. Lantern Capital Partners said Friday it's agreed to make payments to unsecured creditors, such as actors seeking residuals, as part of a $289 million Weinstein Co. acquisition it expects to close on Friday. CHICAGO (AP) — The University of Chicago is looking for a buyer for its 121-year-old Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. The Chicago Tribune reports that the university will be taking offers for an undetermined amount of time. University officials announced in March that the observatory will close in October, citing that it's no longer programmatic or cost effective to continue operations. PHUKET, Thailand (AP) — The family of a Chinese woman and her two children who were among the victims of a tourist boat disaster off the Thai resort island of Phuket shared ominous video of the chaotic scene on the boat before it capsized, and said Saturday they're demanding "justice" from the Thai authorities. COOL RIDGE, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia police have arrested a Georgia man they say pulled a knife on a missionary group in church after he was asked to silence his cellphone. According to The Register-Herald in Beckley, a criminal complaint shows 26-year-old Bernard B. Edmond of Decatur, Georgia, is charged in Wednesday's incident at Nehemiah Baptist Church in Cool Ridge, in unincorporated Raleigh County. KIMBERLY, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in south-central Idaho have identified two people found shot to death in a home in Kimberly and confirmed the deaths to be the result of a murder-suicide. Authorities on Friday said 65-year-old Paul Mueller died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — A state backlog in determining Medicaid eligibility for nursing home residents is forcing a central Illinois facility's closure. The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports that Pleasant Hill Village in Girard will close Sept. 1. It has paid more than $2 million for care that could be Medicaid-eligible. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking volunteers to participate in the state's annual wild turkey survey. Each summer, the department asks for volunteers to participate in the July-August survey. The information is used to monitor trends and manage the state's turkey population. Participants are asked to keep an eye out for wild turkeys as they work and play in Iowa during July and August. Volunteers are asked to distinguish adult females from males and young poults. BYRAM, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi anti-drug officials have handed off prosecution of a suspected drug dealer to federal officials in hopes of punishing him more harshly in connection with heroin overdose deaths. The move comes after a bill to mandate harsher punishments in state law failed earlier this year in Mississippi's Legislature.
