(AP) — University of Wisconsin System regents are expected to approve raising out-of-state and graduate tuition and give employees raises. The regents are set to meet Thursday afternoon and vote on a plan to raise nonresident and graduate tuition by hundreds of dollars at six four-year campuses and all two-year schools.

(AP) — A student has been suspended and security is being boosted at his western Pennsylvania school after he allegedly wrote a plan to "shoot up the school" on his cellphone's calendar. The school about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh typically operates in a locked down mode for security reasons anyway, with classrooms locked and students forbidden from being in the hallways except between classes.

MILAN, Ohio (AP) — Police say an Ohio teenager accused of threatening a classmate with a knife at school denied that allegation and said he carries the blade for protection because of the prevalence of school shootings. The Sandusky Register (http://bit.ly/2genVHY ) reports the 16-year-old student from Edison High School in Milan (MY'-lan) was arrested this week after an argument in the cafeteria. Sheriff's records show he told deputies he's been carrying a knife clipped to his waistband while at school.

Kansas principal calls for a stop to racial harassment (AP) — A suburban Kansas City high school principal is urging parents to speak to their children about tolerance after several incidents of racial harassment between students.

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — The Lafourche Parish School Board has agreed to consider asking voters for a one-cent sales tax for teacher salaries and to authorize the use of bonds for school facility upgrades. Superintendent Jo Ann Mathews says the measure is a consideration at this point. ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they're looking for a suspect who shot and killed a person in the parking lot of a central New York Wal-Mart and fled from police. While investigating the shooting, police spotted a car on Route 366 that matched the description of the vehicle that fled the store's parking lot.

(AP) — The state wants the Nebraska Supreme Court to let the Nebraska Judicial Branch keep confidential the documents that state judges get in training sessions. The Lincoln Journal Star reports (http://bit.ly/2hjuZYX) that in a hearing before the high court Wednesday, Assistant Nebraska Attorney General David Lopez argued that the court has inherent authority to govern the disclosure of judicial branch education records.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A man serving a prison sentence for selling a 14-year-old girl into prostitution has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teen and stealing a truck and money. Prosecutors say the Shines attempted to sell the girl to a police informant in November 2014 in a desperate attempt to make some quick cash.

Police say the arrest stemmed from a Nov. 10 complaint by the executive board of the Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers that Kesler, the group's treasurer, was spending money from the association's checking account without authorization. A police reports obtained by the newspaper says the association submitted banking statements to corroborate the allegation and a criminal investigation was launched.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police says a man and woman have been found fatally shot at a home on the city's northwest side. Officers responded to the home about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Police tell WTMJ-TV two children were found hiding in the house. They were not physically injured. Authorities say one is a teen and the other is about 10 years old. (AP) — A Massachusetts teenager has pleaded guilty to making hoax threats that prompted police responses in several states. Police executing a search warrant found an Anonabox router — a device that allows an anonymous internet connection — in his bedroom.

LINDEN, N.J. (AP) — Police have arrested a 15-year-old who they say is responsible for a social media threat against Linden High School. Police say they were alerted on Wednesday night to a picture that showed a boy holding what appeared to be a handgun warning students not to go to school on Thursday. Police charged the boy with terroristic threats. Linden High School is open and extra security is in place as a precaution. The boy's name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
