Arsen Torosyan: We don’t yet link increase of cases to reopening of schools
“It is conditioned by both increase of people’s movement and low adherence to safety rules. Some factors are difficult to control such as proximity of people in public transport, which directly affects the spread of the virus, or reopening of schools. We have tried to minimize the latter’s impact with new rules but the reopening will lead unavoidably to increase of cases,” said Torosyan.
He has noted that the Health Ministry does not link the recent increase of cases to the reopening of schools, because just 10 days have passed since. According to him, the connection will be made if the numbers surge in the coming week.
Arsen Torosyan has stated that 5 hospitals out of 20 currently treat COVID-19 patients and 3 other hospitals treat children and pregnant women. Torosyan has noted that if the situation worsens drastically, the entire reserve of hospital beds (2,800 regular and 300 beds in intensive care units) could be used again.
