Business communications software company 8X8 Inc. disclosed Wednesday that it has "terminated its employment relationship" with Chief Executive David Sipes, after about two years under his leadership. The company had announced the appointment of Sipes as CEO on Dec. 10, 2020. Since the close of trading that day, the stock has plunged 85.5% through Tuesday, while the S&P 500 has gained 7.9%. DoorDash to lay off 1,250 employees; CEO cites fast growth of costs

Members of the United Steelworkers union have approved a new collective agreement with American Airlines Group Inc. in Canada for nearly 300 members, according to a statement from the union. The new two-year agreement for USW Local 1976 union members in Toronto and Montreal who work as gate and ticket agents, ramp agents and baggage handlers includes wage increases of about 12% over a 24-month period, as well as increases to employer pension contributions, a signing bonus and improvements to benefits. United Airlines Holdings Inc. said Wednesday it's investing an undisclosed sum in sodium ion batter maker Natron Energy Inc., a Santa Clara, Calif.-based energy storage company founded in 2012. Alaska Air Group Inc. said Wednesday it has launched program that allows travelers to tag their luggage using the air carrier's mobile app before they get to the airport. The company said its 2,500 Alaska Mileage Plus members will start receiving this week their electronic bag tags, a three-inch by five-inch device that's updated with the traveler's flight information during check-in. Shares of Petco Health & Wellness Co. Inc. bounded 6.5% higher in premarket trading Wednesday, after the pet care company reported fiscal third-quarter profit that matched expectations and revenue that beat, but trimmed its full-year earnings outlook. Net income for the quarter to Oct. 29 dropped to $19.9 million, or 7 cents a share, from $52.8 million, or 20 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Agriculture company Corteva Inc. said Wednesday it has reached an agreement to acquire Stoller Group Inc., an independent biologicals company, for $1.2 billion in cash. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2023 and to boost Corteva's operating EBITDA and operating earnings per share in 2023. Amazon.com Inc. is preparing to issue at least $8 billion in bonds across five maturities to take advantage of an improvement in borrowing conditions for U.S. borrowers, the Wall Street Journal reported. A renewed push by China to vaccinate its elderly has sparked hopes for an end to its strict zero-COVID policy, but the world's second-biggest economy is facing challenges and at least a year of hard work before the policy can end, the Associated Press reported.
