Shares of Walt Disney Co. tumbled 11.8% in morning trading, putting them on track to suffer their worst day in 2 1/2 years, after the media and entertainment giant's big fiscal fourth-quarter profit miss and downbeat growth outlook. The stock's price drop of $11.80 was acting as a 78-point drag on the price of the Dow, which was down 307 points, or 0.9%. U.S. stocks move lower even with midterms likely to produce Washington gridlock

The Energy Information Administration on Wednesday reported that U.S. crude inventories rose by 3.9 million barrels for the week ended Nov. 4. On average, analysts forecasted a decline of 700,000 barrels, according to a poll conducted by S&P Global Commodity Insights. The EIA also showed weekly inventory declines of 900,000 barrels for gasoline and 500,000 barrels for distillates. Shares of Wolverine World Wide Inc. plunged 24.9% toward a record one-day selloff in morning trading Wednesday, after the footwear and apparel licensor reported third-quarter results that missed expectations and forecast a surprise loss for the current quarter as it takes "aggressive" actions to reduce inventory. The company, which brands include Merrell, Keds, Sperry and Hush Puppies, swung to net income of $39.0 million, or 48 cents a share, virtually breakeven results in the year-ago period. Amazon.com Inc. said Wednesday that it identified and dismantled three counterfeiting operations in China, with help from local Public Security Bureaus (PSB) and Amazon's Counterfeit Crimes Unit (CCU). The ecommerce giant said more than 240,000 counterfeit items were seized by law enforcement in the Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. Shares of SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. sank 8.2% in premarket trading Wednesday after the theme park operator reported third-quarter results that missed expectations, as record revenue per guest wasn't enough to offset attendance that came up below forecasts due in part to adverse weather.
