Costco Wholesale Corp. said late Wednesday its April net sales rose 13.9% to $17.33 billion, from $15.21 billion in April 2021. Same-store sales rose 12.6%, the retailer said, with e-commerce sales up 5.7%. The month had one fewer shopping day as compared with last year's thanks to the later-than-usual Easter holiday. That trimmed total and same-store sales by about 2% to 2.5%, Costco said. Shares of Costco edged lower in the after-hours session after ending the regular trading day up 3.1%.

Fisker Inc. stock fell more than 1% in after-hours Wednesday after the EV maker reported a slightly wider-than-expected quarterly loss, saying it is making progress toward getting its EV to market "while navigating the volatile supply chain environment."

Etsy Inc. shares dropped in late trading Wednesday after the company rode higher seller fees to stronger earnings and revenue for the first quarter than Wall Street expected, but executives guided for a downturn in the current quarter.

The World Health Organization said Wednesday that two new subvariants of the omicron variant of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 are behind a spike in cases in South Africa, but there's too little data yet to know if they are more lethal than other variants.
