PSG also held the tiebreaker with more away goals meaning Barςa needed three more goals to advance. An impossible task. But in the 88th minute Neymar scored on a gorgeous free kick. Three minutes later... Читать дальше...

Every HBO show ranked from worst to best, according to critics

BusinessInsider.com

HBO

Although HBO has attempted to separate itself from television — "It's not TV; it's HBO" — the premium cable network has brought us some of the greatest TV of all time, like "The Sopranos" and "Game of Thrones," throughout its history of original programming, which started in the early '80s.

We ranked its shows according to their ratings on Metacritic, which aggregates critics' reviews and assigns each season of a show a score. (For shows with multiple seasons, we averaged their... Читать дальше...

The serial entrepreneur behind 'period-proof underwear' wants you to give up toilet paper

BusinessInsider.com

Sarah Jacobs

First, Miki Agrawal encouraged women to toss their tampons.

Agrawal is the brains behind Thinx, the "period-proof underwear" startup that makes garments out of a special fabric designed to prevent menstrual blood from leaking and staining.

Now, the serial entrepreneur is taking on toilet paper.

Her new venture, Tushy, sells a portable bidet that attaches to a regular toilet and transforms it into, as Agrawal says, a "booty washer." Agrawal and cofounder... Читать дальше...

Democrats are trying to add a mountain of amendments to the GOP's Obamacare replacement — including renaming it the 'Republican Pay More for Less Care Act'

BusinessInsider.com

Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images

Democrats have begun their fight against the GOP's replacement for the Affordable Care Act, the healthcare law better known as Obamacare.

As the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday held its first day of debate over the GOP replacement, the American Health Care Care Act, Democrats introduced a series of largely symbolic amendments to add to the bill. While the amendments will be considered by the committee, they have to be approved by a majority... Читать дальше...

Donald Tusk to be re-elected at the head of the EU council despite stark Polish opposition

BusinessInsider.com

AFP / Ahmad Gharabli / Paulo Nunes Dos Santos

Brussels (AFP) - EU leaders are set to ignore bitter opposition from Warsaw and re-elect Poland's Donald Tusk as the bloc's president Thursday in a row that underscores the difficulties of post-Brexit unity.

A summit that was meant to focus on plans for the future after Britain leaves has instead become mired in a Polish political drama with wider implications for looming east-west splits in the European Union.

The row threatens to overshadow talks on the economy... Читать дальше...

A pre-dawn vote just gave House Republicans an early victory in overhauling Obamacare

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans on a pivotal House committee scored an initial triumph in their effort to scuttle former President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, using a pre-dawn vote Thursday to abolish the tax penalty his statute imposes on people who don't purchase insurance and reshaping how millions of Americans buy medical care.

Yet the a panel's approval of health care legislation only masked deeper problems Republican backers face. Hospitals, doctors... Читать дальше...

Bobigny (France) (AFP) - Far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen and right-wing Francois Fillon on Wednesday lashed out at the French government a day after a mob of school children in a Paris suburb assaulted police and smashed public property.

Chaotic images of tear gas being fired outside a secondary school in the tough northern suburb of Saint-Denis on Tuesday quickly became a political issue less than seven weeks from presidential elections. Читать дальше...

CHART: This week marks the 8-year anniversary for the bull market in US stocks

BusinessInsider.com

Miguel Riopa/AFP/Getty Images

Monday, March 6 was a historic day of sorts. At least for those in financial markets.

It was the day that the current bull market in US stocks began, born out of the depths of despair of the global financial crisis.

On March 6, 2009, the S&P 500 hit a low of 666.79 points, a somewhat appropriate level that heralded the start of what has been a remarkable run. It would have been a devil of a day for anyone who sold, or who went short, that day. Читать дальше...

ANZ joins the growing ranks who think the Fed will hike rates 3 times this year

BusinessInsider.com

Cliff Owen/AP

In the wake of the stellar ADP National Employment report released in the US on Wednesday, a rate hike from the US Federal Reserve is now seen as a certainty.

It’s a lock, baked in the cake, say markets. In the absence of a Black Swan event, they’re almost certainly correct.

The question now is how many other hikes will arrive this year? Will there be one, two or three, or perhaps none?

According to the Fed’s latest projections released in December last year... Читать дальше...

US crude futures posted the largest decline in over a year, and that's putting pressure on OPEC

BusinessInsider.com

Joe Klamar/AFP/Getty Images

It’s not been a good session for crude oil prices, and that’s putting it mildly.

They’ve copped a shellacking, undermined by the combination of another enormous inventory build in the US, renewed US dollar strength and near record-long positioning among speculative traders.

Both front-month WTI and Brent crude futures tumbled by around 5%, leaving them sitting at lows not seen since mid-December last year.

The percentage decline in WTI was the largest since February 9 last year. Читать дальше...

Foreigners piled into Asian emerging markets again in February, but sustaining that appears 'challenging'

BusinessInsider.com

Quinn Rooney/Getty Images

Foreign investors continued to scoop up emerging market bonds and stocks in Asia last month, no doubt encouraged by modest US dollar weakness on the back of declining US treasury yield.

According to ANZ, inflows totaled $US8.6 billion in February, building upon the $US6.3 billion inflows seen in January.

$US3.5 billion flowed into stocks, outpaced by a $US5.1 billion investment in bonds.

As seen in the chart below from ANZ, the recent trend... Читать дальше...

CNN commentator Van Jones said there is a risk with President Donald Trump that no one is talking about.

"There's a danger that we all start to become Trump — that we normalize Trump emotionally. There's a danger that we all become fear-based and fear-driven and that we give in 100% to this us-against-them hysteria," Jones said on his program, "The Messy Truth" on Wednesday night.

Jones pointed to criticism he received over remarks he made about Trump last... Читать дальше...

7 ways Warren Buffett blasted the airline industry before investing billions in it

BusinessInsider.com

Spencer Platt/Getty Images

In 1989, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett decided to buy preferred stock in USAir, a predecessor to today's American Airlines.

The investment quickly went downhill. For 25 years thereafter, Buffett repeatedly criticized the airline industry as being a terrible place to invest.

Thus, most investors were shocked when Berkshire Hathaway revealed that it had invested in several airlines last summer.

Buffett continued his buying spree in the fall... Читать дальше...

Airbnb might be getting into the long-term rental business

Airbnb might be getting into the long-term rental business.

The home-sharing startup has asked McKinsey & Co. to research the market and conduct a competitive analysis of Craigslist, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources.

The $31 billion company has a sublet section on its website since 2011, which lists apartments and houses to rent by the month in more than 5,000 cities. But the feature isn’t advertised on the website, and is not exactly fine-tuned. Читать дальше...

Here's how to get your taxes done for free

BusinessInsider.com

Kate Hiscock/Flickr

Just over half of Americans get professional help when filing their taxes, the IRS says. That can be a smart move, especially if your taxes are complicated or you’re not confident in your ability to self-file.

But tax help also comes at a price. Tax preparers earn on average $176 for helping with a basic Form 1040 and state return with no itemized deductions, per the National Association of Accountants, although that rate can vary depending on the complexity of the taxes. Читать дальше...

OPEC is considering a second production cut

BusinessInsider.com

AP/Sidali Djarboub

OPEC’s coordinated effort to curtail global supply has so far managed to put a floor under oil prices, which have been sitting modestly above US$50 since the deal was announced at the end of November last year. But resurging U.S. shale has been capping the upside, and Brent has not breached US$58 per barrel. Analysts and experts are now mostly predicting that oil prices will remain below US$60 this year.

The supply-cut deal has so far resulted in a surprisingly high OPEC compliance of more than 90 percent... Читать дальше...
