A handful of Burger King locations in New York City already added the item to the menu, so, on Thursday, Business Insider ventured to a Brooklyn location... Читать дальше...

The news was initially confirmed by fans in Australia and New Zealand, where it is already Friday, June 24.

Adele famously held off on featuring "25" on streaming services upon its release back in November, citing a personal distaste for the medium.

"I believe music should be an event," Adele told Time in December. Читать дальше...

A creepy experiment with women and tarantulas suggests there may one day be a cure for fear

BusinessInsider.com

I recently asked a bunch of top psychologists to tell me what blows their mind, and one of the responses I received really freaked me out.

According to scientific research, one psychologist told me, human fears are at least partly erasable. All it takes is a single pill.

The latest evidence of that phenomenon comes from a study published in December 2015 by researchers at the University of Amsterdam.

For the study, the researchers recruited 45 women who reported being afraid of spiders. Читать дальше...

11 qualities in men that women find attractive

BusinessInsider.com

Be honest, straight men: You all want to know what women want.

Luckily, a bunch of scientists have wondered the same thing.

These types of studies are often small, and frequently rely on self-reported feelings in a lab, which may be different from how women truly react in real life. And the participants are often Western college students, who are not an especially a diverse group. So take the results with a grain of salt.

But hey, whatever helps, right?

Further, a portion of the settlement will also be paid to the US government in the form of fines. Читать дальше...

Food companies funded these 8 studies to prove their products are 'healthy'

BusinessInsider.com

Hollis Johnson

You're not supposed to believe everything you read, but tack the word "science" to something and many people will take it as fact — no questions asked.

This is why big food companies have percolated into the world of nutrition science. If food marketers can "uncover" a health benefit to consuming a company's products, then those products will sell better. That's not "science," it's reality.

A 2015 report pulled back the curtain on the close relationships between nutrition scientists and food companies. Читать дальше...

Democrats staged an unprecedented protest on the House floor Wednesday in an effort to force a vote on gun control legislation that would strengthen background checks on gun buyers and keep people who are on the no-fly list from buying guns.

This tiny device could cure snoring once and for all

BusinessInsider.com

Airing

A quarter of all adults snore regularly when they sleep. That can be disruptive and frustrating for those who have to listen to it during the night — but it can also be dangerous.

The sound happens when airflow gets obstructed at the back of the mouth and nose. That can disturb a snorer’s sleep cycle, and in more extreme cases also be a symptom of sleep apnea, a disorder in which a person’s upper airway collapses during sleep, causing them to pause ten seconds or more between breaths. The 9 best logo redesigns so far this year, according to designers

Redesigning a logo can be a demanding task — a bad design can leave an indelible mark on how people view your business.

Instagram was one such example: the switch from a retro-style camera icon that was designed in 45 minutes to a more abstract one with a rainbow gradient left many people feeling disappointed.

But other times, aesthetic changes can really hit the mark. Below are nine redesigned logos that deserve kudos, according to designers. For the sake of comparison... Читать дальше...

Among the steps Roche took to undercut Biocad was to deliberately drop prices for three cancer medicines — Avastin, Herceptin, and Rituxan/MabThera — in Russia, where the company said it sells biosimilar versions... Читать дальше...

US politics has grown insanely polarized

BusinessInsider.com

Polarization among US politicians has surged over the last decade.

In a recent report to clients, a Goldman Sachs research team shared a chart of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's Partisan Conflict Index, which tracks the degree of political disagreement among US politicians at the federal level based on news articles, to show just how dramatic this spike has been.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - An oil spill of 700 barrels of crude from a pipeline in Ventura County, California, had emergency crews scrambling Thursday to keep the oil from reaching the nearby coast, a state official said.

The Ventura County Fire Department initially estimated the size of the leak at about 5,000 barrels, but in a message on Twitter it later revised the figure down to 700 barrels.

Crimson Pipeline took responsibility for the spill in a regulatory filing.

One of the greatest mysteries in American history is the fate of the lost Roanoke Colony.

The precise fates of those missing settlers remains a mystery.

However, a rare find during a dig at the site of the original colony gives us a clue as to how they lived. Читать дальше...

OBAMA: Supreme Court deadlock on immigration is 'heartbreaking' to millions of immigrants

BusinessInsider.com

President Barack Obama on Thursday called the Supreme Court deadlock that effectively blocked his executive actions on immigration "heartbreaking" for millions of immigrants living in the US illegally.

Speaking from the White House briefing room, Obama said the decision set the country's "broken" immigration system "back even further."

"They're Americans in every way but on paper," he said of those affected by the decision, insisting, however, that the ruling would not lead to their deportation.
