Major global stock markets were sharply lower on Thursday, with US futures also deep in the red ahead of the market open.

Shortly after the market open, the Dow fell as many as 200 points, the S&P 500 fell 28 points, and the Nasdaq were down 55 points — all by more than 1%.

MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) - Dozens of people were killed in a prison riot in the northeastern Mexican city of Monterrey early on Thursday, local media reported, just days ahead of a planned visit by Pope Francis to another prison in Mexico´s far north.

You will be able to claim Tesla's next car for a deposit of just $1,000.

CEO Elon Musk announced the reservation price early Thursday morning via Twitter. He also said that Tesla stores would begin accepting the $1,000 reservations for the Model 3 beginning March 31st and April 1st.

To put that pricing into perspective, consumers can currently place an order for the $80,000 Model X for a deposit of $5,000. The Model S requires a $2,500 deposit.

Time Inc., the owner of Time, Fortune, and People magazines, has acquired Viant, the parent company of MySpace.

Joe Ripp, chairman and CEO of Time Inc., described the acquisition as "game changing" in a press release. 

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

For Time Inc., this acquisition is all about the data.
