President confers military ranks on high-ranking officers 

ArmInfo. On the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President Vahagn  Khachaturyan signed decrees conferring the military ranks of major general to 5 officers of the RA Armed Forces.

According to Khachaturyan's decree, the rank of major general was awarded to: Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Colonel Arthur Yeroyan, Head of the General Intelligence Directorate  of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Deputy Chief of the  General Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel Samvel Movsisyan, Head of  the Main Directorate of Personnel Policy of the Ministry of Defense  Colonel Hrachya Stepanyan, First Deputy Chief of Operations Main  Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel Albert  Baghdadyan, Commander of the Third Army Corps, Colonel Alexander  Tsakanyan.

Immediately after the appearance of this message about the conferment  of military ranks, publications began to appear in the Armenian  segment of social networks and in the media regarding the fact that  the above-mentioned individuals received ranks after they contributed  to the surrender of the sovereign territories of Armenia to the  enemy. The publications especially concerned the commander of the  third army corps, Tsakanyan, who commands the Tavush direction. Even  when there was talk that unilateral concessions were being planned in  the direction of Tavush, the media wrote that Tsakanyan had long  dreamed of the shoulder straps of a major general and would do  whatever he was ordered to get them.

After publications of this kind appeared in the media, the Armenian  Ministry of Defense issued a statement.  In particular, it says:  "With the coordination of certain circles, a number of "media" and  persons who have never had anything to do with the defense of the  Motherland, on May 24, on the occasion of the conferment of the  military rank of major general to representatives of the Armed  Forces, made publications in a clearly organized manner, containing  accusations and elements of slander.

The Ministry of Defense urges you to refrain from attacks on the  leadership of the Armed Forces, unnecessary, groundless speculation  and slanderous publications against officers who have devotedly  served the Motherland for decades.

The Ministry of Defense will investigate all such publications and  will take all necessary legal measures to protect the honor and  dignity of officers through appropriate legal procedures."
