NORTH BEACH, Md. (AP) — An emergency medical technician from Maryland has died in the line of duty while working for the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. WTTG-TV reported that Rescue Captain Patricia Osburn died Saturday after experiencing an undisclosed medical emergency. Osburn joined the department in 1999 and received her EMT certification in 2000. She served as rescue sergeant, rescue lieutenant and rescue captain. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a person suffered critical injuries and had to be extricated from under a light rail train in Los Angeles. Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart says rescue crews removed the unidentified person from beneath a Gold Line train in Boyle Heights late Saturday. The injured person, who was not identified, was hospitalized in critical condition. Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo says the incident is under investigation.
