Councilman seeking re-election admits driving without license for 9 years
A former Haltom City mayor and current council member running for re-election has admitted he has been driving without a license for nine years.
The admission by George "Trae" Fowler comes after the release of a police dashcam video showing him unable to produce a license during an October traffic stop.
Footage of the stop in North Richland Hills was posted by the Haltom City Firefighters for Responsible Government, a group opposing Fowler's re-election.
An officer stops Fowler for a malfunctioning brake light and asks whether he owns the vehicle.
Fowler was arrested the following month after appearing at North Richland Hills Municipal Court because he hadn't taken care of the warrants. It wasn't the first time, the station reported: He also spent two days in the Johnson County jail last year, again for driving without a license.
