Focus on migrant workers, Sonia to PM Modi

Congress president Sonia Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate help for migrant workers walking home, saying the purpose of lockdown should not be defeated by letting the poor bear its cost. She said transport should be made available to take the migrants home and district collectors should be made responsible for those who cannot afford to rent a guest house.

Give shelter to stranded migrants: MHA to states

With reports of thousands of migrant labourers on the highways and stranded at various places, the Centre has sent an urgent advisory to states asking them to provide food and shelter to unorganised sector workers to ensure they stay where they are and do not take to the roads during the ongoing 21-day national lockdown.

ICC, BCCI to head into arbitration over money due to India

Doordarshan has decided to re-telecast the mythological series Mahabharat on public demand, Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Twitter that the series will be aired at 12 noon and 7 PM in the evening. Not just Mahabharat even Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana' which was a popular series in the late 1980s will have a rerun.

Priyanka urges govt to help migrants reach homes

In a letter to States and UTs, Cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba asked authorities to urgently strengthen the surveillance of international travellers who entered India before the lockdown as there appeared to be a "gap" between the actual monitoring for Covid-19 and the total arrivals. He said such a gap "may seriously jeopardise the efforts to contain the virus."
